What's in a Name?

We are often asked about the origin and meaning of the Z Y in our name. Here's the story.

The "Z Y" in our name gets its meaning from the development and quality control processes used in manufacturing crystals. As laboratories develop and perfect their formulas for creating any new crystal, they create batches based on each formulation, and give them designations that show the progression and track results of the development process. The designations are often in letter form - AA, AB, AC, AD, etc.

Once the formulation has been perfected a larger control batch, a mini production batch, is created just prior to a full scale production run. This last batch is designated as ZY, and represents the finished product - the final formula that has been perfected and is ready for prime-time use. That's what our solutions are all about. Perfected and ready for prime-time use.

As for the logo, we have attempted to capture two different aspects of our business. The Y in the box represents our solutions. Professionally packaged and delivered, focused on providing a specific set of business capabilities. We help you define what you need, and our solutions will meet those needs with perfection. In contrast, the Z represents our recognition that many things can't be placed into neat little boxes. You have to be able to think outside the box, operate outside boundaries, and get a little wild and creative when solving complex business problems.
